What is your personal slogan OR favorite quote?

“The human contribution is the essential ingredient. It is only in the giving of oneself to others that we truly live." Ethel Percy Andrus

Imagine you are cast away on a desert island. Which book would you bring?

This is a tricky question. The practical in me would bring "Guide to survival on a desert island." Otherwise I would want something that is long and imaginative like the "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy.

Which song would you bring?

"My Favourite Things" as played on the soprano sax by John Coltrane

Which movie would you bring?

"When Harry Met Sally"

Which ONE luxury item would you bring?

A hot bath

What are your degrees?

1) 2016: Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC), University of Toronto 2) 2015: Masters of Public Health (MPH), Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health 3) 2011: Medical Doctorate (MD), University of Toronto

How did you get here?

I came to Eldoret first as a 4th year medical student on an elective rotation. I found AMPATH and the people I worked with so exciting. I loved how the days were hot and the nights cool and how the elevation kept away the mosquitos. Over the years I kept my connections and managed to return during my MPH to help start the Pre-eclampsia study with its ever-long data collection form. Lately, I have been helping Heather design the Adolescent Pregnancy Program project on the Toronto side and hope to spend some more meaningful time in Kenya with the team in the near future.
